Thank you Sara Shea, Volunteer Clothing Center Coordinator
Photo from 2018 when we recognized Sara for 5000 hours of volunteer service at MOM.
It takes a special person to sort through bags and bags of donated clothing and household items and pick out the best of the best to offer to our clients. It takes an even more dedicated person to do those tasks as well as coordinate other volunteers. That person is Sara Shea.
Sara Shea has led our efforts in our Clothing Center as the volunteer coordinator. Sara managed the work of all the clothing volunteers who sort through clothing donations at our Distribution Center. Sara diligently worked with the volunteers to display the clothing items, kept the racks stocked with quality clothing, and worked directly with MOM clients who needed assistance with clothing and household goods. Sara scheduled the volunteers, communicated with them frequently, trained new volunteers, and oversaw occasional group volunteers. She also worked with individuals and also community organizations, including numerous retailers, to secure high-quality clothing for the center.
Longtime Clothing Center lead volunteer, Sara Shea, is leaving this week after more than eight years volunteering at MOM. Sara is a familiar and friendly face to all those who come to MOM, whether to drop off clothing donations or to shop for quality clothing. Sara has volunteered multiple days each and every week, year-round, leading our efforts in our Clothing Center as the lead volunteer. Sara started volunteering early in 2013 after retiring from a long professional career in retail at Kohl's department store. Thank you, Sara, for bringing your talents to MOM, and sharing your time and compassion for others. All of us - clients, volunteers, and staff - are going to miss you!
