MOM’s Food Pantry Provides Healthy Food for Neighbors in Our Community
MOM’s Food Pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to anyone living in Dane County. To keep everyone safe, we continue to operate using a drive-thru model. Each person chooses items they need from that week’s menu. While they wait in their car, our volunteers prepare their order and load it into their car. Those who walk or bike are also welcome to visit MOM.
For neighbors with limited transportation options or who are homebound, we offer free delivery services. Each week, these neighbors receive an email with a link to the new menu in either English or Spanish. If Russian is their first language, they receive a phone call from our volunteer who is fluent in Russian. Sarah, one of our two Security Managers, then assigns these orders to our volunteer delivery drivers. We also provide a monthly mobile pantry to neighbors living at Voss Haus in Middleton, and Segoe Terrace in Madison. In December, we served an estimated 25 pounds of food and personal care items to each of sixty-five residents.
Recently, we have seen an increase in services. In January, 904 households visited our Food Pantry, taking home a total of 22 tons of food and personal care items. This included non-perishable items like cereal or tuna, personal care items such as diapers or laundry detergent, as well as fresh produce. People who request food after the Food Pantry closes for the day receive an emergency bag of food that feeds a household of four for a day.
At Middleton Outreach Ministry, our goal is to provide a variety of nutritious food options to those we serve, empowering them to choose items that best meet their needs.
