High School Students Trick-or-Can for MOM
This Halloween, members of DECA, a business club at Middleton High School that seeks to prepare emerging leaders for college and careers, decided to put a different twist on trick-or-treating. Instead of trick-or-treating for candy, they gathered cans to be donated to MOM. DECA members went throughout neighborhoods in Middleton leaving a flyer and bag on people’s door. The flyer instructed people interested in participating to place nonperishable food items in the bag on their front porch. On October 29, DECA members returned to pick up the bags filled with food. They then delivered these to MOM. This food could then be used to help families in need in our community.
DECA chapters throughout Wisconsin conducted similar drives—some for the fourth consecutive year. Totals have run over 80,000 nonperishable food items donated to local food pantries in one year.
