Celebrating Ellen Carlson's 20th Anniversary at MOM!

This month, Ellen Carlson celebrates her 20th anniversary at MOM! Through the years, Ellen has contributed in many ways, serving as the Executive Director since 2017. She has guided MOM through some challenging circumstances these past two years, helping the organization pivot in response to the changing environment so that we can serve neighbors in our community as effectively as possible. 

In honor of her service to the community, the City of Middleton presented her with a plaque with the following proclamation:

Honoring Ellen Carlson, Executive Director of MOM (Middleton Outreach Ministry)

Whereas, in her role as Executive Director, Communications Manager, Director of Operations, and Office Manager, Ellen has provided dedicated and compassionate service for 20 years; and

Whereas, through her work, Ellen has brought our community together to create food and housing security through action and advocacy.

Whereas, the success of an agency is determined by the strengths of its staff, and Ellen brings her creativity, compassion, generosity, strategic vision, positive energy, and intelligence to every role she has had; and

Whereas, Ellen, made MOM’s presence in Dane County stronger and more relevant through its print and digital media; and

Whereas, Ellen, as Executive Director, has built partnerships with community agencies, businesses, churches and other organizations to further MOM’s work of creating stability for folks in need;

Whereas, Ellen has brought to focus MOM’s need for racial equity training for staff, volunteers, board, and the community at large; and

Whereas, Ellen has met the challenge of pivoting to address the needs of the community during the COVID pandemic with grace and sensitivity; and our community is stronger and ready to face future challenges because of her work, her determination and her spirit.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Gurdip Brar, Mayor of the City of Middleton, along with the Middleton Common Council, hereby proclaim, honor and commend Ellen Carlson for her dedicated service to our community through her work at MOM (Middleton Outreach Ministry).
