When most people think of organizing a drive for a food pantry, boxes of cereal or stacks of canned goods come to mind. And indeed, most food banks are need of these items. But they’re often also in need of something else: menstrual products. That’s why some high school seniors at Middleton High School decided to do hold a drive focused exclusively on menstrual products. They called it the Period Drive.

Payton (second from the right) wanted to hold a soccer camp for kids ages 4-8 in the neighborhood over the summer, so she got some of her friends together to help. They were also looking for a way to benefit a local charity, so the five girls, all going into 5th grade at Glacier Creek Middle School this coming year, set to planning.

Youth from Blackhawk Church, who helped with the food and school supply collection, loaded up the MOM truck with all of the donations, and then back at the MOM office, youth in the Middle School Summer Camp helped upload the truck and sort the items, which will benefit students, youth and families in our community.
