Food Pantry
Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is MOM's flagship operation. Operating year round, the Food Pantry distributes food Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We serve over 4,000 people each month, including nearly 2,000 children.
Not only one of the largest in Dane County, the Food Pantry is one of the most progressive pantries because of its unique model. Guests to the Pantry can visit as often as they need, effectively eliminating hunger for anyone in our service area.
MOM proudly partners with Second Harvest Food Bank and Community Action Coalition, and receives support from businesses and foundations throughout the community as well as over 200 volunteers.
On average, MOM distributes over 1.4 million pounds of food per year, equaling over 100,000 pounds of food per month.
Besides MOM's Food Pantry, several other Food Programs (including several gardens) and community collaborations also help end hunger.

Understanding Food Product Dating
On occasion, we receive questions about food we distribute being "past the expiration date." Have you ever wondered what "best by" and "use by" dates really mean? They're incredibly confusing, which causes well-intentioned people to throw away food that's still perfectly fine to eat. Here's a handy guide to date labels to help you prevent waste.

MOM’s Food Pantry Provides Healthy Food for Neighbors in Our Community
At MOM, our goal is to provide a variety of nutritious food options to those we serve, empowering them to choose items that best meet their needs. MOM’s Food Pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to anyone living in Dane County.

We Can Build Stronger Futures by Helping Families Gain Stability
When Sue contacted MOM in the summer of 2020, her family’s situation was dire. She and her two teenage sons had become homeless when her mother died. MOM was able to provide some assistance to Sue as she worked to regain stability for her family.

BUILDING STRONGER FUTURES TOGETHER
Cecilia and Manuel worked hard to build a stable home for their two young kids. Then Covid-19 hit, and things began to crumble. With your support, we can help families in our community like theirs recover from this year's challenges and build stronger futures.

Recognizing our Food Distribution Volunteers
As we continue to celebrate National Volunteer Month, we take this opportunity to recognize the dedicated volunteers that support the food distribution programs of MOM!

Building Stronger Futures with Healthy Food
We all need strong bodies and minds to create strong futures. This is especially true for children. MOM is committed to ensuring that children in our community have access to the foods best suited to provide the energy and nutrients needed for strong bodies and alert minds.
