Thank you, Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation
MOM is grateful to the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation for their generous gift of $10,000 to help prevent homelessness and end hunger for our neighbors. Each year, especially in the winter, there is increased need for the free food, warm clothing, utility, rent and emergency assistance MOM provides.
United Way of Dane County’s recently- released ALICE report, indicates that 41% of Dane County households are either in poverty or are not earning enough to get by. These households may often have to forego food, medicine, childcare or heat, to pay housing costs. This means family stability is tenuous, and children are especially at risk from poor nutrition, substandard care, lack of health and dental care, insecure housing and parents in constant stress. In fact, children born and living in poverty are, potentially at a lifelong disadvantage to their more fortunate peers.
MOM does not receive any government funding but relies on the generosity and compassion of foundations, like the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation, businesses, individuals, service and faith-based organizations to fund our programs. MOM uses 89% of funds raised for direct services. Thank you, Steve Stricker and American Family for your kindness and generosity to families and children when they need it most.
