Canstruction Volunteers

Program or Event:

Canstruction Volunteer Form
Canstruction Madison

You CAN help!  Many volunteers are needed to help prepare and execute our Canstruction event.  We are looking for especially able bodied volunteers to help unload boxes of canned food off trucks and also to help decanstruct the structures the day after the event.  Volunteer opportunities from May 2-4 can be found on our Canstruction Volunteer Form or contact Esther at esther@momhelps.org or 826-3409.

Data Entry

Program or Event:

Enter data into our database so we can better serve our clients and volunteers.  We need people familiar with computers and spreadsheets and who have a great attention to detail.  (Hours are flexible but the day and time must be consistent.)

Volunteer Program Assistant

Program or Event:
All programs

Support the over 1,500 volunteers of MOM by assisting with the volunteer program! Duties include data management, calling local businesses and volunteers, and general office duties.  Volunteers must be detail oriented, and have great organizational and computer skills.  Flexible hours between 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Clothing Closet

Program or Event:
Clothing Closet

Have a passion for fashion?  Sort and hang clothing at our Distribution Center.  Make our Clothing Closet appealing for the over 200 people who "shop" there monthly.  Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer without a parent (must be at least 12 years old to volunteer with a parent).  (Two to three hours shifts between the following hours: Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon)

Seniors Program Driver

Program or Event:  
Seniors Program

Help seniors maintain independence by provide an occasional ride in a timely, courteous, and friendly manner.  Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license and must maintain liability auto insurance.

Food Rescue Drivers

Program or Event:  
Food Pantry

"Rescue" food from local restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries and schools.  Must have own transportation and hours are determined in conjunction with the Food Pantry Manager.  Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and maintain own liability auto insurance.

Food Pantry

Food Pantry

Help clients at our self-serve food pantry to fill their shopping carts with groceries they need.  Help accept and process donated food.  Stock shelves, rotate food and remove outdated items, all while keeping the Distribution Center tidy!  (Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. - noon)

Senior Home Chore Assistance

Seniors Program

Help seniors maintain household independence by providing outdoor and/or indoor home chore assistance for senior clients.

Distribution Center Reception

Food Pantry
Clothing Closet

Greet clients as they arrive and assist them with use of the Center, including some basic record keeping, answering phones, assisting volunteers, and helping out with various projects.  (Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon)

Front Desk Reception

Program or Event:  
All programs

Our front desk volunteers answer phones, greet and help with client and volunteer walk-ins, assist with client programs, and help with general office work at our main office.  (Two to three hours shifts Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)

Interpreter / Translator

Program or Event:  
All programs

MOM has intermittent need for volunteers who can interpret and translate for us.  Times are flexible.

One Time Project Support

Program or Event:  
All programs

MOM has various one-time only projects (such as School Supplies Drive or quarterly mailings) where volunteers are needed.  These would mostly be daytime hours, but some evenings are flexible.  You can also join our Volunteer eList to hear about a variety of ongoing opportunities.

Photographer

Program or Event:  
All programs

Do people always tell you when you show them your family candid's, "You take such great pictures!" Then we want you to be part of our Volunteer Photographer team. As an on call volunteer, we'll contact you when we have events going on in the community or special events at MOM that we want documented. Must have access to email, a digital camera, and a way to transfer the pictures to us (either electronically or by CD).

Seniors Shopping Assistance

Seniors Program

Provide shopping assistance to our senior clients either by accompanying them to the store or obtaining a list of their needed items and shopping for the client.

  More than 3,000 of your neighbors rely on us to make it through the month.
