Cleaners at Food Pantry

Clothing Center

Do you like to Clean?  Our Food Pantry is very busy and needs cleaning after it closes each day. Put a smile on the face of MOM clients when they come to shop in a clean building? Help us clean the Food Pantry!

We are looking for several volunteers each weekday afternoon to clean.  Join other volunteers for 2 hours on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons!

*Volunteer once a week for 2 hours*

Mobile Food Pantry

Program or Event:
Food Pantry

Reach out to those clients who have difficulty getting to our pantry by being a part of our Mobile Food Pantry team! Help load our MOM truck with boxes of food and head to one of the low income housing apartment complexes. Help clients fill their shopping bags with groceries they need. Ability to lift 25-40 pound boxes of food.

We're currently looking for volunteers to help with our Mobile Food Pantry on two Wednesdays each month from 12:45 pm - 2:45 pm.

Data Entry

Program or Event:
All programs

Enter data into our database so we can better serve our clients and volunteers.  We need people familiar with computers and spreadsheets and who have a great attention to detail. Volunteers must be college age or older.

Weekdays in 1 or 2 hour shifts between the hours of 9 am and 4:30 pm weekdays. Hours are flexible, but the day and time must be consistent.

Clothing Center

Program or Event:
Clothing Center

Have a passion for fashion?  Sort donations and hang clothing at our Distribution Center.  Help keep our Clothing Center appealing for the over 200 people who shop there monthly.  Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to volunteer, and must be able to commit to at least 6 months. Shifts are two hours - weekly, every other week, or monthly.

 ** Current opening on Saturday mornings 9-12noon, weekly or every other week or monthly **

Food Pantry Inventory Support

Program or Event:
Food Pantry

Inventory Support volunteer: help accept and process donated food.  Stock shelves, rotate food and remove outdated items, all while keeping the Distribution Center tidy! Ability to lift 25-40 pound boxes of food at times.

Also, new Volunteer Position available: Inventory Support/Pantry Closer, certain weekdays 12:30-3;00 pm. Duties include: to ensure that all food pantry shelves are organized and well stocked with a variety of items, including the cooler and freezer; sweep food pantry; organize shopping bag area; put away produce; assist client hosts if needed. Ability to lift approx 25-40 pound boxes of food at times.

Food Rescue Driver

Program or Event:
Food Pantry

"Rescue" food from local restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries and schools.  Food Rescue occurs Monday through Saturday and is brought to the Food Pantry for processing.  You will have an assigned day of the week. Takes about one hour each weekMust have own transportation and hours are determined in conjunction with the Food Pantry Manager, and be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and maintain own liability auto insurance.

 ** Once a Week, early morning hours **

Food Pantry Client Host

Client Host volunteer: help clients at our food pantry to fill their shopping carts with groceries. Shifts are 2-3 hours - weekly or every other week.  Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, and commit to at least 6 months.

** Current Opening is Saturday mornings, 9am-12 noon **

Pantry Garden Mentor

Program or Event:  

Work directly with MOM clients in the MOM Food Pantry gardens, from spring through fall months. Skilled in growing techniques and able to teach others. Time commitment will vary with skill level of gardener, but 2-4 hours per month is an estimate.

Seniors Program Driver

Program or Event:  
Seniors Program

Help seniors maintain independence by providing an occasional ride in a timely, courteous, and friendly manner. Must be at least 21 years old, have a with a valid driver's license for at least 5 years and satisfactory driving record, and maintain liability auto insurance. *Mondays through Fridays only*.

Each Seniors Drive (round trip) lasts approximately two hours. Volunteer once a week or once a month, whichever fits into your schedule!

  MOM distributes over a million pounds of food per year to area people in need.
