Holiday Opportunities Preventing Homelessness, Ending Hunger

MOM has several holiday opportunities to help relieve stress and add joy to our customer's lives. These programs also help people save their limited resources for necessities such as utilities and rent.

Holiday Opportunities

There are many different ways you can give during the holidays:

  • Purchase gifts for a family through the Sharing Christmas Program.  Donor individuals or groups are matched with a family for whom they purchase gifts.
  • Run a Holiday Food Drive - Gather your friends, family, and collect food to stock our Food Pantry.
  • Assemble a Baking Kit. Include your favorite Christmas Cookie recipe and all of the ingredients and tools needed to bake them.  You can bring your kits to the Distribution Center during their regular business hours.  Ideas:  Holiday cookie cutters, sugar, flour, canned frosting, tube icing, holiday sprinkles, cookie mix or dough, eggs, butter, rolling pins, baking sheets, and hot pads.Donations can be brought to the Distribution Center.
  • Join us at Home for the Holidays, an Hors d'oeuvre and dessert reception, a holiday store, and a Live Radio play, complete with live music.  Proceeds help prevent homelessness in our community.
  • Buy an Alernative Gift. Connect your wish to honor friends, family or business associates with a gift that MOM links to those in need.  For  donations over $25, we will send a card with a description of your gift. Donation amounts will not be included in the card.
  • Volunteer for an organizing committee or at one of our many Holiday events.
  • Donate Clothing and other Winter Gear to the Distribution Center.

Thanksgiving Program

Thank you to everyone who supported this year's Thanksgiving program, which offered all the fixings for a lovely Thanksgiving meal to 350 families in the MOM service area and smaller meal baskets to 75 seniors and individuals with disabilities.  Donations of $15 to the program helped us give a family the food they needed for a delicious holiday meal.

The 2012 program is sponsored by Shurfine Food Center and Certco Employees.

MOM's Food Program distributed over 339 tons of food in 2011.
